Scope Haemostaseology

Among the heamostaseologic illnesses treated in our Angiology Outpatients Department are venous thromboembolism, thrombophilic disorders as well as heparin-induced thrombocytopenia.
A further focal point of our work is the care of patients undergoing anticoagulant treatment and treatment with platelet function inhibitors.

The special haemostaseologic coagulation laboratory is run in cooperation with the Haemophilia Centre, whereby our focus mainly offers the following examination parameters:
    Labor Barcoderöhrchen
  • General parameters such as blood cell count, prothrombintime, INR, aPTT, thrombin time, D-Dimer, fibrinogen
  • Thrombophilia (genetic analysis for factor V Leiden mutation (APC resistance), Prothrombin G20210A mutation, factor VIII elevation, inherited or acquired deficiencies of protein C, protein S or antithrombin, antiphospholipid antibodies, homocysteine, JAK-2 mutation
  • Monitoring of low molecular weight heparins, unfractionated heparins, fondaparinux, hirudin, argatroban
  • Platelet function-assays for monitoring ASS and/or clopidogrel therapy
  • Flow cytometry measurement of the VASP phosphorylation to ascertain a clopidogrel non-response
  • HIT antibody testing (heparin platelet factor 4-ELISA, HIPA test)
Pipettieren In treating patients with acute and expired venous thrombosis or lung embolism, we are mainly concerned with evaluating the risk of recurrence and so with advising patients on secondary preventive measures (duration and type of anticoagulant therapy, compression treatment). In this respect, the results of thrombophilia screening, which is carried out at our centre as a matter of course, are also taken into consideration. In cooperation with the gynaecological department, we also treat women who suffer from thrombophilia and/or thrombosis during pregnancy.
