Scope Angiology
The scope of our medical examinations encompasses methods for diagnosing diseases of the extracranial cerebral arteries, the upper and lower extremity arteries and veins, the abdominal aorta , the kidney and mesenteric vessels. We also employ methods which enable evaluation of acral perfusion and microcirculation.
The following examination methods are available to us:
- Colour-coded duplex ultrasound
- CW-/PW-Doppler ultrasound including ankle brachial index (ABI) measurements
- Acral blood pressure measurement with optical sensors
- Acral pulse-oscillography with optical sensors
- Segmental pneumatic pulse-oscillography
- Light-reflection rheography (digital photoplethysmography)
- Blocked vein plethysmography
- Phlebodynamometry
- treatmill walking test
- Transcutaneous oxygen measurement
- Capillary microscopy
The main aspects of treating patients with peripheral arterial occlusive disease are the ascertaining of indications and carrying out catheter interventions, as well as other revascularisation procedures, whereby the treatment strategy (interventional – vascular surgery – conservative) is determined together with the Radiologist and Vascular Surgeon, within the interdisciplinary Vascular Centre.
