Information for Patients

We at the Angiology Department are mainly concerned with examining and treating circulatory disorders, vascular wall inflammations, pulmonary embolism, thrombosis of the veins and arteries, as well as coagulation disorders which accompany tendency to thrombosis (formation of blood clots).

Various examination methods such as ultrasound, blood-pressure measurement on arms and legs, derivation of pulsar curves in the fingers and toes, capillary microscopy as well as determining walking distance on a treadmill, usually enable concrete diagnosis of diseases of the arteries and veins. Further functional diagnostic methods are available to us for special cases.

In using radiopaque material, inserted by catheter intervention (extending with a balloon, insertion of a stent), our centre provides the possibility, to improve especially serious circulatory conditions (intermittent claudication, rest pain, non-healing wounds).
Further diagnosis and treatment is determined together with a cardiologist, radiologist and vascular surgeon. Further diagnoses and treatment measures are determined together with a cardiologist, radiologist and vascular surgeon.

A further focal point of our work is the treatment of venous thrombosis and pulmonary embolism. We are highly specialised in the clarification of familial or acquired coagulation disorders (thrombophilia).

We are here to help.
